1st Grade

         First Graders will continue to develop their singing voices, awareness of the beat, skills to play musical instruments, music vocabulary and age appropriate analytical responses to music.  This year is also important in the development of musical literacy skills.  The students will learn to read and notate simple rhythms and pitches.  They will also practice identifying these patterns during listening games.  Much of the year will be spent singing, playing games that will strengthen their skills, and using instruments to add to performances.
