posted Apr 11, 2017, 6:29 AM by Timothy Miller

Despite the April Fools Day snowstorm it seems that spring has finally sprung here in Methuen.  This is a very busy season at the Timony as we move into the state testing timelines.  MCAS ELA tests will take place in April and MCAS Mathematics and Science/Technology/Engineering tests will take place in May.  The staff and students at the Timony feel confident that our hard work throughout the school year will be evident in the results from these important assessments.  Although we do pause for a few days at each grade level (3-8) to complete the MCAS, there is still a lot to accomplish and we will continue to work for our students success right through June.  I have listed some important dates below.  Continue to check this website for updates.

Autumn 2016

posted Oct 17, 2016, 10:41 AM by Timothy Miller

Autumn is in the air.  The days are shorter, the colors are vibrant and the Timony family is moving forward toward successful outcomes.   We have created a new parent welcome and information area in both lower and upper schools.  This gives a comfortable, welcoming place to wait for appointments or complete paperwork.  This area also has a board with important information for our school community.  Be sure to check it out the next time you're in our building.
The PBIS team has completed their first monthly review of the discipline data.  Comparing these early results to data from last year shows that the system is working.  We will continue to review and improve our behavioral system to help make the Timony School a safe and productive place for our students.

Winter 2016

January 12, 2016
As the New Year arrives and the colder weather is upon us we continue to move forward at  the Timony School.  Our students will be taking mid-year benchmark assessments soon and this valuable information will be used to focus on individual areas of need.  This data is an important tool in our continued efforts toward success.

Our students are SOARing into the New Year.  We continue to work with our staff and students on our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS).  All teachers have created a matrix which explains academic and behavioral expectations in detail to students.  Students will continue to receive positive reinforcement when demonstrating the behaviors outlined in the classroom matrix.  Additionally, PBIS team members have created and shared specific lesson plans for teachers to use to teach expectations around the school building.  The first lesson plan is related to hallway behavioral expectations and transitions around the school building.  We are a large school so it is appropriate to take the time to go over this with all of our students.  Our goal is always to ensure safety and maintain order when moving through the hallways to classes, lunch or specials.

There are a number of exciting events coming up and I hope that all of our families can find time to participate in as many as possible. Please watch your child's backpack and note the weekly Connect Ed phone calls for further information and details on the following events and more.

Jan. 12          PTO Meeting
Jan. 14          Upper School Chorus Concert
Jan. 19 - 25  Peer Leaders Coat Drive
Jan. 28          JROTC Presentation for 8th grade students
Feb. 11          PTO Meeting
Feb. 26         Father/Daughter Sweetheart Dance

At the Timony we continue to strive to maintain open lines of communication with the entire school community.  As always, if you have any concerns, questions or comments you should feel free to contact me or any member of my staff at any time.

Thank you
Mr. Miller

November Update

posted Nov 10, 2015, 5:04 AM by Edward Lussier   [ updated Nov 10, 2015, 5:05 AM ]

As we enter November, we head into a very busy holiday season and the end of our first trimester marking period.  Timony students have continued to demonstrate appropriate behavior and are SOARing here at the Timony.  Students in both upper and lower school participated in brief assemblies where specific expectations for their behavior were discussed.  We want to make sure that all students know how to behave in all areas of the school so that everyone can be successful!  Students were also treated to a great video starring Timony students and staff.  Ask your son or daughter about this video! The first trimester closes on November 25th and first trimester report cards will be sent home with students on December 9th.  Please check your child’s back pack on that day.  Also, parent conferences are being scheduled for Thursday and Friday, December 10th and 11th.  Please make sure you contact your child’s teacher if you would like a parent teacher conference.

During this busy holiday season, please try and keep your child’s school routine as consistent as possible.  With all of the days off and breaks in the schedule, consistency will help everyone adjust.  Have a wonderful Thanks Giving!

Thank You,

Lisa Durkee

After an outstanding start to the 2015-16 school year, the staff and students at the Timony have developed positive rituals and routines that allow us to meet the diverse needs of all of our students.  We are all extremely busy every day as we continue to move through the curriculum as prescribed by the district and state.  Our teachers have completed initial assessments to determine each child's specific needs and then they collaborate to develop plans to address these needs.

Our students participated in the first PBIS incentive award and continue to work hard to fill their S.O.A.R. card.  The PBIS team has completed two more days of training and are working  to further develop our already successful Positive Behavior system.  The PBIS team and the PTO continue to have events that involve all of our school community.  It is always a great feeling when so many parents and family members show up at school for these events.

Please continue to check this website as the calendar of events is frequently updated.  I value the input of the entire school community so please feel free to contact me at any time regarding concerns or ideas.

Thank you,
Mr. Miller
