Book Fair Begins

Next week is Book Fair at the Tenney.  Our media center teachers are hosting the event which runs  each day. Parents are invited to attend during Parent Conferences.

April 8 call - what a great week ahead!

Good evening Tenney families, this is Mary Beth Donovan with your call about the week ahead at the Tenney.  First of all, thank you the students and staff in Grades 3,4,7 and 8 for the impressive  attendance and hard work put into MCAS testing. What a great start to our standardized testing. Tuesday and Wednesday our 5th and 6th graders take the ELA test and once again, our fabulous PTO will provide a supplemental breakfast to all test takers.  Also happening this week, The Methuen Scholarship Foundation Telethon  is on Tuesday and Wednesday nights on MCTV, Academic Bowl is at the Tenney  Wednesday  at 3:30,  followed by Bingo Night, 5 to 7 pm  and Thursday night, the best PTO in the world (ours) meets in our staff lounge at 7 pm.  Friday is a half day with upper school dismissed at 11:15 and lower  at 11:45.  Lunch will be served. And we have all  following week to rest up on Spring Break!  Finally, congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Marian Magnan. Your sixth grade students,past and present, and all your colleagues at the Tenney  are so lucky to work with you!

Half Day Reminder for March 29

Hi Tenney families, this is Mary Beth Donovan, Tenney supervising principal, with a reminder that tomorrow, March 29th. Thursday is a half day. Upper School dismissal is at 11:15, upper at 11:45 am and brunch will be served. No school Friday. Have a great long weekend.

Sunday Night Call - March 25

Hello everyone, this is Mary Beth Donovan with your Sunday night call. A few things about the short week ahead. Thank you for returning your child's report card before Wednesday March 28th, Thursday is a half day with Upper School dismissed at 11;15 and lower school at 11:45. Friday there is no school in observance of Good Friday. We look forward to starting our MCAS testing with grades 3 and 4 on April 3 and 4th.  The schedule of all testing dates have been sent home and are a posted on our school website. We know our third and fourth graders will start MCAS  off  strong for us.  Happy Easter and Passover

Thursday night call March 22

This is Mary Beth Donovan with a special Thursday night call! Please check your child's backpack for the second trimester report card. They were sent home with our students yesterday,  March 21.  Please have them returned to your child's teacher, signed on or before March 28th. Parent conferences are set for  Friday, March 23 and that day is also an early release day for parent conferences. Upper school is dismissed at 11:15 am and lower school at 11:45 am. And the best news of all? Our Book fair will be open Friday afternoon for everyone. Please drop by our media center to pick up some good reading.

Sunday Night, March 18

Hi Tenney families, This is Mary Beth Donovan with your Sunday night call. Big news for this week! The Scholastic Book Fair  begins this week and will be held Monday through Friday  Proceeds from this fair will allow the Tenney Media Center to purchase new titles for all students to enjoy.  Lower school students will have a chance to visit the fair during their weekly technology period, and Upper School students will have a chance to visit with their homeroom teachers. The fair will also be open during parent conferences on the 23rd, should families wish to shop for new books together! Cash and checks are accepted.  Also, report cards go home  on Wednesday. Parent conferences are Friday afternoon and our teachers have sent invitations. Finally Friday is a half day, with upper school dismissal at 11:15 and lower school at 11:45.  

Pizza, apple pie, $10,000 and support our students

Mark your calendars for the twenty-seventh annual Methuen Scholarship Foundation Telethon on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, and Wednesday, March 21, 2018. This outstanding event will be held in the Arthur Nicholson III Auditorium from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and can be viewed on the Verizon channel 31 and Comcast channel 99. All funds raised go directly to MHS graduating students.

For every pledge of $30 or more, the donor will receive a complimentary large apple pie from Mann Orchards in Methuen, as well as a large cheese pizza from Bada Bing located in historic downtown Methuen. Thank you to Mann Orchards and Bada Bing for your continued generosity and support of MHS! 

For your convenience, donations can be made by completing our pledge form or online via PayPal. Donations of any denomination will be greatly appreciated. Please note your pledge is tax deductible and our Tax ID is 46-4500729.

On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, the Methuen Scholarship Foundation will be giving away $10,000 to a lucky winner. March 11 call

Hi Tenney parents, this is Mary Beth Donovan with your Sunday night call.  We sure missed seeing our students Thursday and Friday and hoped you turned your clock ahead yesterday. We look forward to longer days.
This week, we are getting ready for our second trimester report cards. Marks closed last week and we look ahead to the third trimester.
And 8th grade families, it is time to think about high school! March 13, Tuesday, join us at an informational MHS Grade 8 parent Night at 6:30 p.m. in the Arthur Nicholson Auditorium.  Learn about the Program of Studies and the course selection process and how to get involved in extracurricular activities and more. Plus, you can tour the high school.
And, please checkout our MCAS dates on our page on the Methuen Public School website. We sent letters home a few weeks ago as well.

Sunday Night Call March 4

Hello Tenney families, this is Mary Beth Donovan, supervising principal, l with your Sunday night call.
Three things
1. There will be an educational program on vaping and the use of e-cigarettes by our youth held on Tuesday March 6th from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at the Methuen High School Media Center. The program is open to anyone in the community who wishes to know more about this topic. The program will be presented by Diane Knight, Director of the Northeast Tobacco Free Community Partnership. Hope to see you there.
2. Our fabulous PTO meets Thursday at 7 pm in our staff lounge. We will talk about Fun Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, field trips and more! 
3. And 8th grade parents, mark your calendars for March 13 and an informational MHS Grade 8 parent Night at 6:30 p.m. in the Arthur Nicholson Auditorium.  Learn about the Program of Studies and the course selection process with students and families. General information including involvement in extra curricular activities, daily schedules, and Infinite Campus will be provided as well. Following the informational session in the auditorium, families are welcome to walk throughout the building to view our instructional spaces. This information and more is available on the MHS web page and twitter.

Biography Fair

Ever wanetd to have a chat with Beethoven, Steve Jobs or Pocahontas? Then join the Grade 4 team on March 2, 9:15 to 10:15 am at the second annual Biography Fair. Our students will be in character to share with us very important facts about some history-making people.
