Dear Methuen High School Community:

This morning, Thursday, April 14, we received a phone call at Methuen High School indicating a bomb threat for Methuen High. Upon receipt of the message, we immediately contacted the Methuen Police and put our emergency response plan into action.

In consultation with Methuen Police, a threat assessment was conducted. As part of this assessment, we communicated with other communities that have had similar threats throughout the week. The threat received today was categorized by our team as low risk.

Consistent with our Emergency Procedures Manual and the Massachusetts Bomb Threat Response Guide, a thorough search of the building was conducted by school administration and Methuen Police. Students remained in classes while the search took place. We are pleased to report that our actions have not produced any evidence that the threat was credible.

Please know that we treat the safety and security of our students as our most important responsibility. We take each threat seriously. Throughout the school day today, there will be additional police presence at Methuen High School. The swift response and collaborative effort from the Methuen Police is greatly appreciated, and we thank them for their support.

Sincerely,

Richard Barden
Principal
