posted Jun 10, 2016, 9:14 AM by Richard Barden
On Thursday, June 9, 2016, we were very fortunate to have Holocaust survivor, Ms. Doris Edwards, share her story with 120 ninth grade students. Originally from Southern Germany, Ms. Edwards bore witness to the rise of the Nazis and their takeover of much of Europe between 1938 and 1940. As part of the Kindertransport program, Ms. Edwards traveled from Germany, to the Netherlands, Spain, France, Portugal and eventually New York where she was reunited with her parents and brother after nearly three years of separation. Thanks to the initiative of English teacher, Ms. Rubino, Ms. Edwards' visit was orchestrated through Facing History and Ourselves. The video footage of Ms. Edward's talk will be available to be shared with students not present at the assembly. Thank you to Ms. Edwards and Facing History for providing our students with this invaluable learning experience.
