Happy November CGS Families,

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, things are beginning to pick up at the CGS.  We had a very successful Monster Bash 5k on Halloween Day, with over 200 runners and walkers participating!!  Thanks to all our sponsors and runners.  We officially kicked off our PBIS program at the CGS, so don’t be surprised if you hear “CGS is the BEST” around the house.  “BEST” stands for “B”e responsible, “E”xpress respect, “S”afety first, and “T”ogether we are ready.  Both students and staff are rallying around this motto. Some general dates to keep in mind as the month unfolds:  picture retakes are 11/12, our next PTO meeting is 11/12 at 7:00 pm in the media center, and we have a CGS School Safety Meeting scheduled for 11/12 at 6:00pm in the auditorium.

Upper School News:

  • Greater Lawrence Technical High School presentation to our Grade 8 students 11/2

  • Continental Math League is fully underway

  • Grades 3-8 will participate in the Turkey Trot 11/25

  • Upper School Sports Day (spirit day) 11/25

Lower School News:

  • Grade 4 will be visiting the Lowell Boot Mills on November 9th and 13th as an extension to their immigration studies.  The children have been exposed to a variety of primary sources and artifacts.

  • Grade 1 students will visit the New England Aquarium on November 19th to support their studies of Animal Habitats.  The students are fortunate to have this wonderful facility so close to home.  Teachers are planning follow up activities to bring this enriching experience back to the classroom.

  • Grade 4 will participate in their first Continental Math League meet on November 5th.  The students have been practicing their problem solving and critical thinking skills in preparation for the big day.

The next few months will go by fast!  I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather!
