PATHFINDERS  
Methuen High School Media Center--Methuen, MA 
Pathfinders are pages that offer students selected resources in a variety of media on 
a topic they are researching. They provide a head start for students as they begin their 
research project.
 

CANCER INFORMATION LINKS

To find books in the MHS Media Center, open  Destiny (the online catalog) located on the MHS Media Center Web page.  Type in the topic you want to search.  Check the copyright date on any books you use to make sure they are up to date.  Some of the subject headings or keywords you can search for are:

Excellent medical encyclopedia. Search for your cancer topic and you will get 
an excellent article that covers all aspects of that particular cancer.

Infotrac -- contains databases of magazine articles, a biography resource, and health and business references.  Try Health Reference Center Academic, Health and Wellness Resource Center, and Gale Science in Context.

Full text database of magazine and newspaper articles, TV and radio transcripts, pictures and maps. Find full text, up-to-date, published articles.

Massachusetts Newsstand -- newspaper articles from the Boston Globe (1980 -  current), Boston Herald (1991 - current), and ten other Massachusetts Newspapers.

Grolier Online -- 2 electronic encyclopedias-- New Book of Knowledge and Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia.  Articles in these encyclopedias link you to other articles and also to relevant web sites where you can find more information on your topic.
