GUIDANCE NEWS 2012-2013 Methuen High School Colleges & Careers Fair The 2nd annual Colleges & Careers Fair will be held on October 17th from 7:25 - 9:00 AM in the MHS field house. Over 100 representatives from colleges, universities, technical schools, community service organizations, and local businesses are scheduled to attend this year. This is an excellent opportunity for students to ask questions about the college application process and gain information about careers they are interested in pursuing. Parents are welcome to attend this event, so we hope to see you on the 17th! Dual Enrollment Northern Essex Community College is currently seeking candidates for their Dual Enrollment program for the 2012 spring semester. Students who participate in Dual Enrollment take courses at Northern Essex Community College for high school and college credit. Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who are interested in a challenge that will help to kick start their college career should speak to their guidance counselor for more information. Funding may be available for students to participate in this program, however spaces are limited and the deadline to fill out an application is rapidly approaching. Registration for New Students If your child is planning to attend Methuen High School for the 2012-2013 school year, please call the registration office at 978-722-6047 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment to begin the process.
GET CONNECTED MHS has multiple ways for students and parents to stay connected to academics as well as exploring colleges and careers. iParent The Methuen Public Schools invite all parents to participate in the iParent Access System. Through iParent, parents are able to do many things that facilitate communication with their son/daughter's teachers. Please note that these accounts are for PARENTS only! Family Connection also lets us share information with you and your child about up-coming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other Web resources for college and career information. In addition, the site includes a link that your child can use to send us an e-mail message. To visit our school’s Family Connection site, use your Web browser to connect to: http://connection.naviance.com/methuen. When you visit the site for the first time, please enter your personal registration code in the New User box and follow the on-screen instructions to create your own account. If you do not know your registration code, please contact the counseling office for assistance. Note that you and your child may each receive different registration codes, and that each code may be used only once.
