Online Workshops and Researched Information on Bullying for Teachers

http://www.childwelfare.gov/calendar/cbconference/fourteenth/presentations/79.cfm (Excellent workshop on the subject of bullying.  Teachers could use this to gather important information and resources that can be used to teach students how to recognize a bully and what they can do to stop it.)

http://www.kidpower.org/who-we-serve/how-to-stop-bullying.html?gclid=CMbAufOVrKECFY-F7QodJnmAlA (Great site with articles, workshops, publications, podcasts, and videos on how to take charge and stop bullying)

(This site has tons of information about bullying.  It includes information that adults would even find useful for bullying in the workplace.  It is a lot of reading but worth the time you will spend here.)

Informational Sites for Kids

(This site was created by the elementary guidance counselor at our school.  It provides information for students, parents, and staff members.)

(This is an kids online article about dealing with bullies.  It explains how to prevent being bullied as well as how to handle it when you are being bullied.)

(To view these videos you will need a username and password.  The school I am at paid for this online video viewing service for our district.)  I did a search on Discovery Streaming for Bullying and found some great results for videos that would be age appropriate.  I am listing the following titles without the exact internet location as you will not be able to get to them without a username and password.)

1.  What We Learned About Bullying

(Great video to share with students to teach them what a bully is, how to recognize bully behavior, how to see if they have been bullying someone, and how to prevent or stop it from happening to themselves or others.)

2.  Real Life Examples of Bullying

(Kids tell their stories about being bullied, how they felt, and how they stopped it.  This video helps students make connections with what they see and hear about bullying every day.)

3.  Bullies and How to Help Them

(This video gives students information on how to help bullies make better choices and decisions.  Sometimes we find that bullies have been bullied themselves at times and have learned this behavior as a defense mechanism.)

4.  Kenny the Shark:  Kenny the Rock Star/Scaredy Shark

(This video is familiar with many of my younger students as Kenny is a regular show on TV.  They will enjoy learning how Kenny deals with bullying in this and the next video.)

5.  Kenny the Shark:  Kenny the Hero/Whaling on Kenny

Online Games

(The first thing you want to check out on this site is the "Watch This Webisode" link at the top of the page.  The short video will demonstrate a couple of different instances that could be called "bullying".  It will be up to you to decide.  But this site is filled with information and you will want to explore it for even more than just bullying.  But to get to some information about cyber bullying, click on the Parents and Educators link on the left side of the screen at the bottom, then scroll down the page to find what you are looking for.  There are links to printables on keeping girls safe online and tons of resources on other safety issues.)

Then you can let the students play the game!  http://www.mcgruff.org/Games/stop_bully.php

http://www.wiredkids.org/ktt_universal/games/javascript/cyberbullying_quiz_1/index.html (Kids can go to this site to take a cyber bullying test.  It contains questions like about being tricked into giving out personal information, whether someone has ever changed your password on you, had secrets about you posted online, etc.)

(Excellent site for kids to use to learn about bullying.  It contains webisodes (cartoon videos) about the subject as well as games and other fun activities for students to do while actually learning!) (THIS IS ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITES!!)

Pamphlets and Worksheets to Print Out

http://worksheetplace.com/index.php?function=DisplaySheet&sheet=charae&links=2&id=&link1=31&link2=32 (This is a worksheet that can be printed to see how much students already know or have learned about bullying and how bully's behave.)

(This is a printable survey for students to take to see if they are being bullied.)

(This is an educational brochure which explains what bullying is and how to stop it.)

http://www.ncpc.org/topics/by-audience/law-enforcement/teaching-children/handouts/say-goodbye-to-bullies.pdf/view (This is a printable addition worksheet that you can use with students to teach them how to say goodbye to bullies.)
