About Mrs. Griffin

Hi everyone!  The 2012-2013 school year is my ninth year teaching and my ninth year here at the Timony Grammar School.  I have spent all nine years in grade 5!  Fifth grade is such a fun age to teach.  The children are just beginning to discover who they are, and they are on their way to learning to be responsible and independent young adults.  I often find myself learning right along with them!  This year I will be teaching reading/language arts, math, and social studies.   

When I am not at school teaching (or home lesson planning) I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I have 4 adorable cats.  Charcoal and Scout are 7 years old, and Snickers is 5 years old, and Avalanche is 2.  I also enjoy taking dance classes in my spare time and have tried many genres of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, modern, and even a tiny bit of hip-hop.  I am also a nature-lover and  enjoy the outdoors.  In the summer I love to relax at the beach or at the lake with a good book, and I go camping with my family every summer.  In the winter, I enjoy skiing with my friends or family.  I was previously Ms. Zacharias, but I got married in December 2010 to my husband, who is in the Army and who returned from serving a deployment overseas last March.  I am so excited to have him closer to home.  I just returned from my maternity leave in December.  My husband and I had our first baby (a boy!) at the beginning of September. 

Some of my other activities in the past here at the Timony include teaching in the 21st Century After School and Summer Programs, as well as choreographing and directing the middle school musical.
