The following is a clarification from the Commissioner of Education on the opening of schools when the state has declared a partial state of emergency.
Superintendents and Charter Leaders,
I received inquiries from several superintendents about whether the Governor's state of emergency declaration for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 10, prevents towns from holding school. The answer is, NO. If your town feels prepared to open and the safety of students and staff is not in jeopardy, you should go ahead and open.
